Jonathan is a Chartered QS with 35 years’ experience in private practice.

Jonathan specialises in the delivery of Employer’s Agency/Project Management services and drafting and defending claims.

A Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb), and holding a post-graduate Diploma in Arbitration and post-graduate Certificates in Adjudication and Project Management, Jonathan also holds an Advanced Professional Award in Expert Witness Evidence (APAEWE).

During his time in the industry Jonathan has provided project management and quantity surveying services on developments over £30 million in the UK (£120 million internationally) and expert witness/claims advice on claims to £250 million internationally.

Jonathan established JKA in 2005 to service commercial clients in the retail, commercial and residential sectors and has since expanded to serve numerous public sector and contractor/subcontractor clients.

Based out of London and the Midlands, Jon is a Chartered QS and a practising barrister. He acts as Chartered QS Claims Consultant, Counsel, Adjudicator and Mediator.

A Chartered Quantity Surveyor with 35 years’ experience in the construction and engineering industry Jonathan has acted as a: contractor’s QS; a construction claims consultant; a practising Barrister; and as a Partner at a specialist construction and engineering firm of Solicitors.

Jonathan combines strong commercial, analytical and advisory skills with a pragmatic and approachable manner. He draws on his significant knowledge and expertise in the industry and provides services in all matters relating to construction and engineering.

Jonathan is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (FRICS), a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb) and a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors (FCInstCES). Jonathan is a RICS Accredited Mediator and an accredited Adjudicator.

Jonathan has experience of matters relating to: building/engineering disputes; delay/extension of time matters; claims for loss and expense; liquidated damages; defective work; final account matters; certification issues; disruption claims; professional negligence; negligence; and nuisance claims. Jonathan’s experience has involved all the major standard forms of contract such as JCT, NEC, ICE, FIDIC and MF/1.

Based in North Yorkshire, Andy is an experienced commercial manager who has held the managing director role within a £400m plc building contractor having grown turnover from £100m for over a period of 10 years.

Andy’s clients include contractors and clients for whom his intuition as a managing director is priceless. Andy’s clients range from small contractor’s seeking advice on sustainable growth and staff infrastructure to acting as contracts manger serving blue chip clients on high profile major projects.

A trusted pair of hands, Andy has negotiated satisfactory settlements for considerable sums in previously intractable disputes, thus obviating the need for expensive and risky adjudication proceedings. Andy performs particularly well as an intermediary in emotive and hostile environments when personalities have become entrenched. A trusted mentor, Andy has successfully acted as Intermediate Managing Director for construction companies during periods of temporary illness, ensuring the continuity of the business throughout the absence.

Based in Lincoln, Nigel is an experienced expert witness, claims manager, adjudication representative and further education lecturer who has held commercial director roles within contracting organisations for over 30 years with turnovers in excess of £500m, with responsibility for directing and defending claims.

Nigel’s current client list includes consultants, sub-contractors, main contractors and employers for whom he provides expert commercial management, project management, expert witness, adjudication advocacy and contract advisory services.

Typically involved in the early stages of a dispute, Nigel’s approach is to obviate the necessity for formal dispute resolution processes through expert negotiation and strategic advice.

A founding member of QSi in 2004, Nigel holds the Advanced Professional Award in Expert Witness Evidence (LETAPAEWE) which is the only Masters level qualification for expert witnesses in the UK and Internationally and has delivered expert witness services in litigation and adjudications with dispute values to £40m.

Nigel holds a post graduate certificate in further education lecturing and his experience includes being a visiting lecturer delivering undergraduate and postgraduate courses in commercial management and quantity surveying. This positions him perfectly for delivering CPD seminars and specialist training courses to professionals within each tier of the industry on subjects such as JCT contract and sub-contract provisions (including delays, payment and completion notices), NEC early warning notices and compensation events and general adjudication conditions and processes.
